Top 5 Audio Technologies Unveiled at CES 2019

Major names at CES, Las Vegas’ internationally-renowned electronics and technology trade show, have unveiled new audio technologies this year. We’ve looked into many of the recent innovations, and highlighted a few of the standouts. Check out the top 5 audio technologies unveiled at CES 2019 below!

Dirac 3D Audio

Dirac is moving into new audio solutions for the competitive and recreational gaming industry. According to their website, Dirac’s new 3D Audio Rendering “delivers an immersive 3D audio experience that is ideal for gaming headphones. The technology is now ready for complete integration by headphone manufacturers, game producers, smartphone OEM’s and chip manufacturers. You can read more about the new tech here.

Beyerdynamic Lagoon ANC

Beyerdynamic is packing their headphones with noise cancellation technology, as well as personalized sound. Teaming up with MOSAYC, Beyerdynamic hopes that the “LAGOON ANC [will] revolutionize wireless music pleasure with their unique combination of state-of-the-art noise cancellation and the innovative sound personalization. They offer not only complete, relaxing silence but also highest sound quality that outperforms other ANC headphones and adjusts perfectly to the hearing capability of the listener.” Read more about the Lagoon ANC here.

Sony GTK-PG10

Showcasing they like to have more than a little fun, Sony revealed a huge party speaker, complete with cup holders. The Verge reports that, “This $250 speaker has a dedicated outdoor party mode. What does it do? How does it change the music EQ? Sony says that the DSP (digital signal processor) ‘automatically adapts audio settings to optimize outdoor performance.’ Its rechargeable battery is good for up to 13 hours of playback.” Read more about the GTK-P10 here.

Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar

Sennheiser is moving deeper into the world of soundbars. According to a recent press release, Stephane Hareau, Sennheiser’s head of global consumer products, stated that, “We are thrilled to be introducing the Ambeo Soundbar as Sennheiser’s first foray into the home entertainment speaker category. We have developed it with the ambition to create one of the best soundbars on the market — an elegant all-in-one solution for all those seeking an immersive 3D, audiophile-grade home entertainment experience.” Learn more about Sennheiser’s Amebo Soundbar here.

Sony 360 Reality Audio

Sony’s second innovation, 360 Reality Audio, aims to bring lifelike 360 audio over speakers. The product is not only a speaker system, but utilizes the MPEG-H 3D Audio format for recording. Engadget writes, “Sony is taking high-resolution music to another level by adding a spatial dimension. The goal here is to create something that ‘makes listeners feel as if they are immersed in sound from all directions.’ Or to put it another way, to make you feel like you’re at a concert any time you listen to music.
